Owner and founding member of QSM John has over 22 years of experience in engineering, design and construction with a diverse career path originally studying and training as a mechanical engineer specialising in Gas/Steam turbines. John then went on to work with a world class design company AKA, based in London designing & building recording studios, technical facilities, architectural/product/furniture design and development with clients such as ABB, GE, IBM, Sainsburys, Google, American Airlines & First Leisure. John has over 10 years experience with complex & major loss building claims within the insurance sector and has worked with numerous private clients dealing with industrial, commercial and residential building projects.
John is passionate about the latest 3D technology and using it effectively to deliver complex projects on time and within budget. John is currently working towards attaining his chartered status with RICS and has recently qualified as a commercial drone pilot with a BNUC-s license. Personal interests include electronic music, sailing, tennis & hockey

John has worked within the construction industry for over 30 years for both private and public sectors, starting as a tradesman and later progressing to Site Manager, Clerk of Works, Estates Manager and Senior Surveyor. John has managed a large range of projects from high value major new build to renovation of listed and domestic buildings. John has spent the last 9 years specialising in building insurance claims, acting as a Building Surveyor/Project Manager.
John’s hobbies include hiking, exercise and reading.
Apprentice / Trainee Building Surveyor
Joshua Fisher-Lambert - Apprentice / Trainee Building Surveyor
After recently completing an extended diploma in engineering, Joshua has taken an apprenticeship position here at QSM as a Building Surveyor and RPA pilot. His diverse work experience skills, ranging from computer repairs to plumbing, coupled with his engineering and technological background has proved a more than useful asset. Joshua is qualified and capable of flying light unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV’s), and has a familiarity with a host of CAD/CAM software packages. Having grown up in the prime of the rapidly flourishing digital age, it comes as no surprise that Josh has such a passion for all things electronic. His recreational time is usually spent furthering his passion, you can typically expect to find him tinkering with his car, computer or playing through the latest video game releases in his spare time.
Keith Wakeley BSc (Hons)
Originally working for a Land Surveying Company, Keith has spent the last 13 years working primarily in the Insurance Industry as a Building Surveyor managing large loss Insurance Claims together with Subsidence Claims. Keith has worked as both an in house Surveyor for a Loss Adjusting firm, together with working in a private practice and has a broad range of experience diagnosing and managing the repair of building defects. Keith is a qualified BNUC-S UAS Pilot, with a CAA Permit for Aerial Work, working to deliver Aerial inspections, defect analysis and detailed 3D building modelling with point cloud analysis. In his spare time Keith is the Team Leader of Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team, delivering a voluntary rescue service to the north of the Peak District together with South Yorkshire.
Apprentice / Trainee Quantity Surveyor
Lee Dyson - Apprentice / Trainee Quantity Surveyor
Lee started his career path at the University of Leeds studying Economics, however later realised that full time education wasn't for him. Instead, he opted for a more practical route with hands on experience working with QSM as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor. Lee is currently studying a Foundation Degree in Construction Part-time, working towards a fast-track to apply for a BSc in Quantity Surveying. During his time at QSM, Lee has dealt with a number of commercial and domestic insurance projects working alongside Quantum’s Senior surveyors. Lee has also been introduced to using AutoCAD, loss adjusting insurance claims and validating building works. Lee’s outside interests include Motorsports and Mountain Biking.
Michael Lawton BSc (Hons)
Having graduated from Sheffield Hallam University, attaining a BSc (Hons) in Building Surveying which included a placement year with Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council. Michael has worked on all aspects within the building environment, taking a position in a surveying practice that dealt with insurance claims project management. Michael is continuing this career path and is currently working towards attaining his Chartered status within the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. Michael’s specialisms include technical drawing, 3D modelling and general surveying. Outside of work Michael has a keen interest in running, completed various half marathons, and also enjoys reading science fiction in his spare time.
Philip Glossop MCIAT
Phil originally started his career working for a number of private Architectural practices before gaining a position with Sheffield City Council where he spent 30 years working as an Architectural Team Leader. Phil has extensive experienced working as a building surveyor for the local authority having been responsible for a team of surveyors undertaking stock condition surveys of both housing and non- housing stock. Whilst at the Council Phil was also responsible for the administration of a large number of private housing enveloping contracts, with further experience in producing surveys and drawings on Decent Homes projects for large building contractors.
Phil has more recently been employed with Quantum Survey Management Ltd as a Senior Surveyor, responsible for the reinstatement of building insurance claims from small domestic properties through to large commercial/industrial units. His experience also extends to working with a number of private clients on various development projects, and the conversion of a portfolio of shops including bookmakers, restaurants and commercial/industrial properties.
Phil’s interests include helping with a local charity, walking his dogs and entertaining his grandchildren.
